Hi,
I am trying to make a clean debian 11.4 installation on a vroc raid disc. During the installation when i come to the part where to partition the discs, i see the discs as two separate ones.
If i do exactly the same thing with debian 10.2 it works fine. Does anyone know if I can do something to make it work.
If I try to upgrade a 10.2 to 11.4, i cant boot the system.

Installing debian 11.4 on intel vroc raid doesn't work
Re: Installing debian 11.4 on intel vroc raid doesn't work
Hi and thanks for the response,
Yes, i tried that and unfortunately it didn't work. It might be because it is m.2 and not sata-disks, i tried both with and without dmraid=true.

On the very same computer ?
What Debian installer did you used ? Can you supply the url of the downloaded image ?
Edit:
See intel documentation for bios/firmware configuration before installing: https://www.intel.it/content/www/it/it/ ... sraid.html
For example, Intel says that installation must be done by UEFI boot with secure boot disabled. The VROC RAID must be configured using firmware before installation.

Yes, exactly the same computer and bios configuration.
The 11.4 link is this one https://cdimage.debian.org/debian-cd/cu ... etinst.iso

I am using both UEFI and disabled secure boot. The problem with the available firmware is that it is only for RedHat. But according to the list of compatible OS, it is RH, SUSE and ubuntu that is compatible. But as i wrote before also Debian 10.2 works.

What do you exactly mean ? In the computer's firmware is listed some compatibility only with Redhat ?
If it can be useful, this is the Ubuntu documentation about configuration of Intel® Virtual RAID on CPU (Intel® VROC) with Ubuntu 18.04.3 LTS e 18.04.4 LTS Server-User's Guide. Can you spot analogies or differences from Debian Installer in respect to BIOS configuration and installer (GRUB menu is different, of course) ?
Re: Installing debian 11.4 on intel vroc raid doesn't work
I have been looking into this a bit further and it seems as if its only during the installation process that the vroc disc is seen as one disc. When you boot the installed OS it is two separate discs which I find very strange.
In the Ubuntu installation it works as Intel intended, no problem during either installation or normal boot/run.

Hello,
Therefore, have you installed Debian with a raid disk configuration using the Debian installer (even if after boot the raid is not recognized) ?
Re: Installing debian 11.4 on intel vroc raid doesn't work
Yes, the debian 10 installer is this one https://www.debian.org/releases/buster/ ... installer/
and the 11 is https://www.debian.org/download
