Debian installer does not detect ethernet device

#1 Post by badhat101 »

At the "configure your network device" step in the installation it fails and tells me to choose one from the list.

Code: Select all

# lspci -v
03:00.0 Ethernet controller: Atheros Communications Device 1083 (rev c0)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Device 847e
Flags: bus master, fast devsel, latency 0, IRQ 5
	Memory at fea00000 (64-bit, non-prefetchable) [size=256K]
	I/O ports at e000 [size=128]
Capabilities: [40] Power Management version 3
	Capabilities: [48] MSI: Enable- Count=1/1 Maskable- 64bit+
Capabilities: [58] Express Endpoint, MSI 00
	Capabilities: [6c] Vital Product Data
	Capabilities: [100] Advanced Error Reporting
Capabilities: [180] Device Serial Number ff-78-6c-31-f4-6d-04-ff
If you need the ID's

Code: Select all

#lspci -knn
Function 7 [1022:1719]
03:00.0 Ethernet controller [0200]: Atheros Communications Device [1969:1083] (rev c0)
Subsystem: ASUSTeK Computer Inc. Device [1043:847e]
Interestingly, from another installation with a more recent kernel (kernel 3.3) the device is found and the module atl1c is being used. The device is a Atheros AR8151.
So, how I can do a network install of Debian? I usually do a network install so I can choose the Testing sources right from the start.
