hp-setup can't find models.dat

#1 Post by aantoon »

I'm running a updated version of BullsEye 5.10.0-6-amd64

models.dat is located in
/usr/share/hplip/data/models.dat
/usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat
/usr/share/hplip/models.dat
/usr/share/hplip/models/models.dat

but hp-setup can't find it? I looked into hp-setup but find no entry for "models.dat"
cups say

Code: Select all

HP DeskJet 2600 series, driverless, cups-filters 1.28.7	Idle - "File "/usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertopclx" not available: No such file or directory"
hp-setup

Code: Select all

error: Unable to locate models.dat file

HP Linux Imaging and Printing System (ver. 0.0.0)
Printer/Fax Setup Utility ver. 9.0

Using connection type: usb

error: No device selected/specified or that supports this functionality.
Since my previous post I purged hplip and removed all mention of it by hand. I then installed hplip and hplip-gui from synaptic. I have tried every link google gives on "Unable to locate models.dat" but no joy.
Help is greatly appreciated.

I'm using Buster.

Code: Select all

~$ apt-file search /models.dat

libsane-hpaio: /usr/share/hplip/data/models/models.dat

$ apt-file search /rastertopclx

cups-filters-core-drivers: /usr/lib/cups/filter/rastertopcl
