I wonder how well Debian social will work

#1 Post by pylkko »

Referring to this announcement:

https://lists.debian.org/debian-devel-a ... 00008.html
https://wiki.debian.org/Teams/DebianSocial

I am not so conservative as to be against anything new, but all those old pages and wikis were always pretty out-of-date...
... and do you really need to share your DebainTube link on DebianGram and get liked, when you can do that on the already existing platforms?

just a few questions.

Looks interesting, thanks for sharing. It's a sign of the times and good to see effort being made. Who better to leverage technology than the people and projects who make it all possible? Collaboration/cooperation that ends up benefiting everybody. :)

When the services mentioned like the following are finally up and running, then Debian Social should work at Debian events very well using software which respects the guidelines ("as opposed to Signal, WhatsApp, Facebook, Instagram which has sadly become a norm for those").
pleroma
peertube
pixelfed
jitsi-meet
They all look very good. I have only tried jitsi recently and am finding it very useful but I hope such software finds itself into the development branches sooner rather than later! But getting there will require a fair amount of work.
DebianStable

Code: Select all

$ vrms

No non-free or contrib packages installed on debian! rms would be proud.
