Debian on a Slimbook pro - any experience?

#1 Post by ThomasRossi »

Hi all,

I'm new to this community, but being a (K)Ubuntu user since the beginning, I am used to the Debian way (and well aware on how *Ubuntu diverges from Debian)

I am considering buying a Slimbook Pro X (AMD Ryzen) and might be temped to install a Debian on it, so I'm looking for any user feedback of people having installed a Debian on such a laptop.

Did you went through any compatibility issue?
Did you find an alternative to the Slimbook special packages (ex: slimbookbattery) sadly available only on PPA?

Thank you in advance for your feedback!

Is it this? https://slimbook.es/en/store/slimbook-p ... i7-comprar

That can come with Debian pre-installed.

If you hover over the Debian symbol on that page there is a message about problems and alternatives.

No, the one from your link has the Intel CPU and NVidia graphic card.

The one I am interested in has the AMD Ryzen CPU and an AMD graphic card.

But Debian is not even proposed as an install, that's why I wonder if there is any issue with Debian and this version of Slimbook.

Probably no Debian because Buster can't support that Ryzen 4800H chipset. If you install Bullseye with the latest kernel you can get, such as Liquorix, you can very probably have a good experience with it.
