version 3.05 broke my net...had to rollback to version in testing (3.04)..just another friendly warning to the unstable users since apt-listbugs showed nothing...guess I should file a bug

Re: Beware of latest dhcp-client/common in unstable
Awwww...Jeeeez!!!! I was using my debian "unstable" this morning and did a apt-get dist-upgrade, and I remember it upgraded the dhcp-client. Afterward, I couldn't get any net connection, I thought that it might be my ISP having problem (for the 1st time). I checked again this afternoon, no go. Until now when I logged in my debian "testing" by an off chance that there maybe a bug in dhcp-client, my debian testing net connect is fine.plb wrote:version 3.05 broke my net...had to rollback to version in testing (3.04)..just another friendly warning to the unstable users since apt-listbugs showed nothing...guess I should file a bug

Hmmm! I'm using dhcp3-client as opposed to dhcp-client. I do notice that both have recent updates in Sid. I am looking at amd64 info.
My weekly dist-upgrade is normally done on Sunday. Today is Friday. ... I'll be watching.
Edit: OK! Curiosity overcame me. I did an "upgrade" (not a dist-upgrade) getting the new version of dhcp3-client, and it did not negatively affect my amd64 install.

Correction it was dhcp3-client/common not the older version of dhcp-client/common.
Anyway, I rollback to "testing" version (3.0.4-14) of dhcp3-client/common, and my net connection worked fine so it was dhcp-client/common version 3.0.5-2 in "untstable". As the OP mentioned, apt-listbug made no mention of any bug in dhcp3-client/common.

Sounds like http://bugs.debian.org/430064 ?
If not, please file a bug yourself, using 'reportbug', and report the exact version that it didn't and did work with and what your configuration was.

works just fine. Gotta remember it is called unstable for a reason. Sid does break your toys on occasion.

Yep, it was this particular bug, it breaks my network and I couldn't get any net traffic. I'm currently using dhcp3-client/common version 3.0.4-14 in debian "unstable".Jeroen wrote:Sounds like http://bugs.debian.org/430064 ?

It only broke after I did an upgrade, also apt-listbugs didn't mentioned anything about dhcp3-client/common.
