Can't Install NVIDIA Drivers

#1 Post by osmanakar312 »

Hello, i have a laptop with NVIDIA GT 620M. I want install NVIDIA drivers on Debian based Linux Mint(LDME 5, Debian 11 Bullseye). I'm using Debian's own guides for installing: https://wiki.debian.org/NvidiaGraphicsDrivers but driver won't work and i can't use NVIDIA GPU. My computer has muxless design, i've tried Debian's own Optimus guide: https://wiki.debian.org/NVIDIA%20Optimus but all options make it worse. Also downloaded NVIDIA's drivers in own site but it disables Intel again not usable. I wan't use NVIDIA GPU on applications somehow but i can't. Guides won't help me, what should i do?

My sistem:
Its a Samsung Laptop manufactured in 2013, It has Intel i5-3210M and Intel HD Graphics 4000 GPU, Also it has 4 GB of RAM. My system included with NVIDIA GT 620M graphics card. It has muxless design.

I am not familiar for gathering help ...
is not too bad so to read , at least if you are the same person who started this topic on the Linux Mint Forum : NVIDIA Driver Not Usable on LDME5 :
If you want extra output or information, please ask me …
who will come to your rescue can start with your info :

my advise , for what it's worth , remove nouveau from the blacklist ... nothing wrong with this driver ... works here perfectly on a similar lap .
ASUS GL753VD / X550LD / K54HR / X751LAB ( x2 )

Try booting on another kernel version and installing program from nvidia site on that other kernel. After that it was enabling for me to finish driver installation on main kernel version that I am using. I know it is not straightforward process most of the time...

Install and run nvidia-detect from the standard Debian repo. It's in the wiki instructions...so I'm a bit baffled why you didn't tell us the output, since there are various type of Debian Nvidia drivers that it will tell you are compatible or not.

I've already followed Debian's guide. I can't get any output or off-screen rendering.
