[Solved] Panel of Xfce4 Crashed/Brave?

#1 Post by keos »

Hi,

Again i'm having problems with Debian, this time the Panel just crashed, i checked in the synaptic and all xfce4 still installed. I tried to go into the .xsession-error and the first time i was able to read that there was a problem with xfce4-power manager (it was saying something about that there was not author name) i try again to get in there to be able to make a copy/past but now the file do not open.
xfce4-power-rmanager it is installed too.
I did and update and upgrade ...

Ok i got it now:

Re: Panel of Xfce4 Crashed

I noticed some strange things in the Brave browser folders, like messed up, I had downloaded waterfox and when I extracted it I got Brave (?), also it had become the default browser by itsef, when I printed something it is Brave the one that came out with that 'new printing model' that they have now ...

I completely uninstalled Brave. After that, in the terminal: xfce4-panel, and it appeared to me of subito, I restarted and it still there, now I will turn off the PC, I do not know tomorrow ... if all is well I will put solved to the subject.

Thanks.

It has not happened again so I have no doubt that Brave was somehow controlling a lot of things.

Could it have changed the layout that the operating system has in the power controller ...?

Could someone please clarify this question for me:

Who should control the display, the power manager (DPMS) or X11?

As it appears below in the screenshot, I think right now it's X11, but I'm not sure ...

Where did you get brave, not in Bulleye.

Code: Select all

$ aptitude search brave
p gnome-brave-icon-theme - blue variation of the GNOME-Colors icon th
p libraven0 - Raven library for budgie-desktop
p shiki-brave-theme

From here: https://brave.com/download/

This is not my worry right now ... BUT:

[Who should control the display, the power manager (DPMS) or X11?]

*No, i don't have the privative/free repos ...

root@keos-inspiron3583:~# LANG=C apt install brave
Reading package lists... Done

No apt package "brave", but there is a snap with that name.
Try "snap install brave"

I understand the responsabiliy that Debian team has with the system and they are trying to advice user en general about ...

But the system has a great limitation in how to get packages and we have to decide for something close to a 'FrankenDebian' or to live with a 'DebianNothing'.

How can i get what is not provided by the system?, No everything is in snap o flatpack, not to mention the inconvinience that when you got something you have to find out where it is located and a way to later open it in aplications to create ... etc, etc.

Thanks, oh!, You never answer my question.
