Can someone give me a step-by-step guide on how to install debian and dhcp server on VMWare Workstation or Vbox?

#1 Post by tunya »

I'm so lost right now, i have a school project about instaling a dhcp server on a debian operating server.

I've literally downloaded so many packages of dvds and iso images of debian :

Tried so many times, being faced with so many problems usually on why i cant use the sudo command or that i cannot instaled packages because it is unsafe for some reason.

Looking through so many forums like stackoverflow regarding my question yet, im not 'techy' enough to understand the solutions that person is giving.

And i don't really understand that the assignment needed me to configure the network on the vmwstation on hostbased. Is it after i install the debian and run it or before instaling it? Idk...

If someone can give me a step-by-step on how to install the right debian to be used as a dhcp server on a right vm configuration, that would be great.

Thank you.

1. Get familiar with the install process https://www.debian.org/releases/stable/amd64/
2. Grab the latest Debian Stable ISO https://www.debian.org/download
3. Since its just going to be a server, don't install a desktop, just the base OS.
4. Go back to 1.
5. See this URL: https://wiki.debian.org/DHCP_Server
6. Continue to review the links at the bottom of the link in number 5.
7. Continue to reference number 1 during the whole process.

The above assumes you already have installed your virtual application and know how to use it.

Above and beyond that, you are asking folks to do your homework for you - which, is a No-No and nobody should do the work for you.
With the above information, and some work on your side - you'll have this up and running.
If however you simply must have others do your work - use your Google-Fu
