Setting up Raid arrays

#1 Post by NewToLinux »

I am thinking of setting up RAID arrays for use in a desktop running a Debian 11 distribution.

I propose to put the Debian 11 software in a RAID 1 array consisting of two HDDs.

I also propose to put the user data in a separate RAID 1 array consisting of another two HDDs.

Am I right in thinking that the Debian 11 Raid array cannot be set up using software Raid, but the user data
Raid array can be set up using software Raid ?

No, the system can be installed on software RAID too. Setting up boot redundancy is the only tricky part, specially with UEFI boot.
