Browsers freezing - solved
Browsers freezing - solved
I am running Debian fully updated on an old macbook laptop. It's using the nouveau drivers for the Nvidia 9400m. Both Firefox and Chromium freeze when I try to scroll pdf's, or open Lastpass. I tried swapping out the memory modules several times with 1 gb or 2 gb chips. I tried KDE and XFCE. I tried all the different options in the KDE compositor, and even disabling the compositor. Nothing helps.

Re: Browsers freezing
That's your problem. It needs the Nvidia drivers.
My Kali box with Nvidia Quadro NVS 140M got the nouveau driver by default during the build and it would freeze up like that. I had to install the Nvidia driver to get it to run. Now it runs like it should with no freezing.

Re: Browsers freezing
The latest Debian, Bullseye, doesn't accept the Nvidia drivers for my old GeForce 9400M card. I looked up workarounds and patches, but I couldn't get them to work. Disabling hardware acceleration, like Kippah suggested, worked.
