Problem with network mirror in my country(Armenia))

#1 Post by Curie »

Hello, I'm having problems with network mirror in my country (Armenia). When I try to install Debian 7 (wheezy) I need to mention a web mirror, but there is no official web mirror for Debian in my country.

What can I do in this situation?

1. You can use other mirrors. I don't think your country blocks other Debian mirrors, right?

2. Wheezy mirrors are down. This is an old release. You'll only find it in the archives, but I'm not sure why you would want to install a release that doesn't get security updates anymore.

I suspect the OP to be a bot but http://deb.debian.org/ is a CDN so it should deliver the best download speeds wherever you are.

But wheezy is only available from http://archive.debian.org/debian, as canci notes.

I have a specific server which works with Debian 7 and older versions.
@Head_on_a_Stick If I mention this link http://archive.debian.org/debian during debian installation as a hostname of the network mirror, will it work?

Why do you not want to install the current Debian Bullseye? Wheezy is unsupported and does not receive security updates. It should definitely not be used on any system connected to the internet.

I can not do that because my server is a voip server with softswitch and it's hard to update it to higher versions without loses.
What I need to add to /etc/apt/source.list to have connection with network mirror ?

Pls help me with this.

That would not work, as told, wheezy is old stable as pointed. Using old stable is very risky, because it does not get security updates, that also was told in the thread.

I have not used any voip, but at least asterisk and linphone are in the current stable.

I'm not helping you run oldoldoldstable on a server. Sorry.

Yes the server is archive.debian.org and the sources.list should thus be:

Code: Select all

deb http://archive.debian.org/debian wheezy main contrib non-free
