Hardware and kernel version

Hola,

Since a year ago I'm using Ubuntu (now on 22.04) (for my main computer). While learning about programming C and about Ubuntu, Linux etc. I ask my myself, why not use Debian instead of Ubuntu.

What can hold me back is my hardware and my expectations. In my computer I have a i9 12900 CPU and a RTX 3080 GPU.
I am happy with it watching movies and playing games on Steam.

Can you please tell if Debian (with Linux 5.10) would bring significant limitations?
And if Steam on Debian should run reasonably good compared Ubuntu 22.04?

I don't think Debian 11 has the necessary Mesa and firmware for your 12th-gen Intel stuff yet. Maybe if you don't need the Intel Graphics, and use the nvidia-driver from bullseye-backports, but that may be tough without a GUI if you haven't used a terminal for a while.

In Ubuntu, you could install inxi and run "inxi -Fxxxz" in a terminal, then copypaste the output here. That would give the gurus here a better idea of what's in your box and what drivers it's using in Ubuntu.

Thanks for the feedback. I don't hope to use the Intel Graphics much (again) in the future. Had a lot of black screen monitor trouble (booting) round the start of Ubuntu 22.04. Also on Ubuntu 21.X with my previous GPU 1080ti. Now I know that HDMI does not work well on Ubuntu with my monitor (ASUS PA329) booting. If I have to guess, I would say that it has got something to do with High-Bandwidth Digital Content Protection (HDCP). But this opinion is only based on having a black screen (with HDMI and not with DisplayPort).
EDIT: ok thanks, I think with your reply it's possible to come to some sort of conclusion. The answer would be yes
There will be an obvious limitation. You mentioned Intel Graphics (concerning CPU). And possible also for the GPU. I looked into it. Bullseye does not offer the 5.10(.73) Nvidia driver. Question then is, do I need/want it (I can test this for a bit on Ubuntu). Or would an install following the instruction on this website be a succes:
