"VPN" tab is missing.
"VPN" tab is missing.
Hello,
According to https://protonvpn.com/support/linux-vpn-setup/ tutorial, I want to import OpenVPN configuration, but I can't see any "VPN" tab: https://ibb.co/25zKcfV
What is wrong? I'm using MATE Desktop.
Thank you.

Is it because of their service?RU55EL wrote:You need to ask at ProtonVPN.

Because they wrote the software.hack3rcon wrote:Is it because of their service?RU55EL wrote:You need to ask at ProtonVPN.
Re: "VPN" tab is missing.
It's network manager (or whatever lookalike MATE Desktop may be using), which is certainly not written by the Proton people.RU55EL wrote:Because they wrote the software.hack3rcon wrote:Is it because of their service?RU55EL wrote:You need to ask at ProtonVPN.
The OP probably needs to apt install network-manager-openvpn-gnome, but how would he know, if he never reads the documentation of anything.
Re: "VPN" tab is missing.
I installed "network-manager-openvpn". I'm using MATE Desktop.
I installed "network-manager-openvpn-gnome" and problem solved, but why not "network-manager-openvpn" ?

Believe or not, network-manager is (in debian) a command line program/daemon.hack3rcon wrote:I installed "network-manager-openvpn". I'm using MATE Desktop.

If you want GUI, you need network-management-gnome, and if you want the openvpn GUI then you need network-management-openvpn-gnome.
I imagine there's also some kind of network-manager-kde or whatever.

The first problem: when trying to connect to a remote VPN L2TP server, the VPN connection window freezes in the "connection" state.
