my gib ethernet just use 100mbps [PROBLEM]

#1 Post by roycordero »

This is my first time on the forum and I look forward to helping out with whatever I can contribute.

This time I come with a problem

I have a pc with debian 10 (wired conected to my router R9000) that I use as a OMV server, it has an Intel desktop board DP43TF with a Ethernet controller: Intel Corporation 82567V-2 Gigabit Network Connection

Image ImageImage

The funny thing is that it only transmits up to 100mbs

My other wired devices are all 1gb but only this server is not, A file of 10 gbs can take up to the whole day I have done apt-get update and upgrade and I have everything updated ... I don't know what it will be?

Please help me

Can you install ethtool and share the output of "sudo ethtool eno1", please?
we see things not as they are, but as we are.

Code: Select all

ip a
to see nic names

Example:

Code: Select all

$ ip a

    link/loopback 00:00:00:00:00:00 brd 00:00:00:00:00:00
    inet 127.0.0.1/8 scope host lo

5E should be fine, but gIgabit transfer needs all the pairs connected. If you don't have a cable tester, rotate cables and see if one would give the full speed.

Just a thought. :D
If you right-click the network icon next to the clock and select: edit network connections (i guessing you have a taskbar and a network icon) :)
Mark the network card and click the little gear at the bottom next to + and -
On the wired tab at the bottom it says: link negotiation is it automatic or manual?
If it says manual change to automatic..
If it says automatic change to manual and select, speed 1Gbit
That change has worked for me :)
Why make things complicated in life, if you can make it easier for yourself... Do it. ;o)

Ok after trying several times and even in linux lives of kali and others ... when I change the 'link negotiation' from ignored to manual and 1Gb no longer connects again in any linux distro

It will be that I buy a new lan card and the amount to see

My cheap china motherboard with intel H310 chipset and Intel Gen9CPU only worked in 100Mbit both in windows with latest drivers and in Linux.. so on this one i am using now I had to switch to a PCIe network card..
But on my old acer laptop intel Gen2 i5 I had to change from auto to manual to get it in 1Gbit mode.
Before you buy a new network card... Have you tested with another network cable, so the cable hasn't been damaged?

Edit sorry. my bad... I saw it now... you have tested it with a cabletester
