Bullseye - wireless problem with Linksys WRT1900ACS router

#1 Post by plink »

[edited on 10/25/2021 10:58am ET - added detail on Linksys firmware version]

I've got a Libreboot Thinkpad T400 with Debian 11, which was upgraded from 10 around 2 weeks ago, with no issues that I know of.

Everything was fine until yesterday, when I needed to do a factory reset of my Linksys WRT1900ACS router, which apparently triggered a firmware upgrade to the latest, dated 4/20/2018 (version 1.0.3.187766). I also changed my password on the router, so I needed to update all of the devices in my house (T400, mobile phones, Roku, Tivo, Chromebook, etc.)

There is a 5ghz and a 2.4ghz wi-fi, and the T400 previously connected to the 2.4. Some other devices connected to the 2.4 just fine after the firmware upgrade.

Upon login, I am prompted to connect to the 2.4, and it fails when I try.

Here is some diagnostic info:

Any ideas on what to look for, either on the T400 or the router?

Thanks.

Do you have the old password stored on the computer?
Are you sure you have typed the correct password?

Code: Select all

wlp2s0: deauthenticated from [[MAC address]] (Reason: 2=PREV_AUTH_NOT_VALID)
I have the same router, and never had a problem with it.

Thanks for responding.

I don't believe that my old password is stored on the computer, since I get prompted to enter a network password after I log into Debian.
There is already a password stored in the dialog, and it is the correct, new password (made visible if I check "Show Password" in the dialog).

Other devices are using the same password with no errors.

The only thing that has changed is the firmware in the Linksys router, although it is not "cutting-edge", since it is dated 4/20/2018 (version 1.0.3.187766).
