Ayatana Indicators and Missing Network Manager Applet

#1 Post by johnsonmt01 »

Does anyone here have experience using Ayatana indicators on the MATE desktop? When the Synaptic packages are installed, I get every indicator working except for the Network Manager Applet. This works in Ubuntu Mate, but doesn't appear in Debian. I can substitute by using the NM-Tray applet, but at a loss of functionality. Am I missing packages separate from Ayatana that may enable this?

This description indicates Network Manager Applet has been implemented, but so far I haven't been able to make it appear.
