Help with Intel Wifi

#1 Post by mtntechie »

Hello all. I did a fresh install of Debian with the net install ISO 11.1 with firmware. I then setup Xorg and i3 window manager. Trying to get my Dell laptop intel wifi working. I installed the firmware package and network manager along with iwctl. It's appears as though I'm connected to my network but instead of an IP it just shows the MAC address. DHCP is working, at least when I plug in my CAT6 cable it does. I tried installing and using wp_supplicant but got frustrated with that and did an 'apt purge' on it. What am I missing?

Thanks.

Sorry I can't help with your problem, but please replace your screenshot by copy/pasting the text inside CODE tags. Makes it much easier to read.

I haven't used iwd, heard about it for awhile now. Is it even usable on bullseye?

Did you install recommended dbus and activate the service file?

https://wiki.debian.org/NetworkManager/iwd

Code: Select all

$ apt show iwd
<snip>
Recommends: dbus | dbus-system-bus
<snip>
Note that the package defaults
 to relying on dbus activation to start.
 If you want to use iwd standalone without any manager,
 then you'll need to manually enable the system service.
good luck
