how to dump Blocklayer Multipath

#1 Post by modo72 »

Hello out there, for quite a while the kernels block layer has been enhanced by a multipath component which has the same purpose as the network layers multipath: finding the fastest way for data to been written or been transferred. Its good for elaborate storage solutions over network e.g. But I don't need it, and as far I can see at /proc/kallsysms my own Debian made kernel (5.18.0-2-amd64) doesn't has it either. But when I try to disable it for my custom kernel strange thinks happens. Lots of kernelpanics, kernel oops and warnings from libata:
Mar 25 10:43:41 pmtest kernel: [76710.309169] ata6: exception Emask 0x10 SAct 0x0 SErr 0x4000000 action 0xe frozen
Mar 25 10:43:41 pmtest kernel: [76710.310983] ata6: irq_stat 0x00000040, connection status changed
Mar 25 10:43:41 pmtest kernel: [76710.312818] ata6: SError: { DevExch }
Mar 25 10:43:41 pmtest kernel: [76710.314600] ata6: hard resetting link
I can solve this by enabling the multipathd, a Daemon which manages the BL multipath, but I would like to get rid of this multipath component anyway.

How can I disable the BL Multipath component the right way?

Thank you in advance

BR Christian
