[SOLVED] Samba4 Provisioning Error

#1 Post by NFPC »

I am attempting to setup a Samba4 Active Directory by following the Samba4/HOWTO located at http://wiki.samba.org/index.php/Samba4/HOWTO. I have got to Step 4: Provision Samba4 successfully, but when I entered: /usr/local/samba/sbin/provision --realm=samdom.something.com --domain=NFPCDOM --adminpass=secret --server-role=dc. I get this error: ProvisioningError: Your filesystem or build does not support posix ACLs, s3fs is unworkable in this mode

All required and optional packages where installed including libacl-devel
I have limited experience with Linux in general, but I do not believe that I made a simple mistake. :?

Thanks to kukks and jones_d in the #samba IRC channel I have found the solution:

What I had to do was edit my fstab
1) Enter "nano /etc/fstab" or "vi /etc/fstab" depending on your preference.
2) On the drive in question add "acl,user_xattr," as underlined below.
3) As root enter "mount -a" and if that doesn't work reboot with "shutdown -r now"

# /etc/fstab: static file system information.
#
# Use 'blkid' to print the universally unique identifier for a
# device; this may be used with UUID= as a more robust way to name devices
# that works even if disks are added and removed. See fstab(5).
#
# <file system> <mount point> <type> <options> <dump> <pass>
proc /proc proc defaults 0 0
# / was on /dev/sda1 during installation
UUID=d24a1b4e-c691-49a2-ab3f-d294d5e8038c / ext3 acl,user_xattr,errors=remount-ro 0 1
# swap was on /dev/sda5 during installation
UUID=1c716f45-7c24-4cc0-89bf-5f56f5fa2452 none swap sw 0 0
/dev/scd0 /media/cdrom0 udf,iso9660 user,noauto 0 0
