[Solved] Cantor with maxima backend does not render LaTeX

#1 Post by Nikos78 »

Hello community,

I am running Debian Wheezy 7, 64-bit, with KDE. I installed Cantor and its backends for Maxima, Octave and R. When I evaluate a simple equation like

Code: Select all

>>>  solve(x^2 = 1)
I get

Code: Select all

\begin{eqnarray*}\left[ x=-1 , x=1 \right] \end{eqnarray*}
, with "Typeset using LaTeX" enabled. Instead, I should see a nice LaTeX output.
LaTeX is installed and in my path, as well as dvips.

PS: When evoking cantor from the CLI and entering the above code in cantor, I get the following message (on the CLI):

Code: Select all

(%i1) (%i1) This is pdfTeX, Version 3.1415926-2.4-1.40.13 (TeX Live 2012/Debian)
 restricted \write18 enabled.
entering extended mode
This is dvips(k) 5.992 Copyright 2012 Radical Eye Software (www.radicaleye.com)
/usr/bin/dvips: DVI file can't be opened: /tmp/kde-xxxxxx/cantor/RE4982.dvi: No such file or directory

Any suggestions?

Ok, I took a look in the temp/kde-xxxxx/cantor/ directory and found a log file with an ulem.sty file not found error in LaTeX. So I searched in synaptic for ulem and found that this is provided by the package texlive-generic-recommended
installed that. All fine.

Thank me :D
