[SOLVED] Chromium browser + html5 player

#1 Post by phoenix_art »

Hello!

As I know Chromium can play videos on website with installing DRM-module. But now I couldn't find any workable solutions. Is there anyone who can use this?

Thanks for this link. I completed all the steps. How to activate now? After restarting browser the website still send me: can't stream on this browser, streaming not supported.

Perhaps letting us know the version and architecture of Debian and Chromium you're using would help. For example, I could see big issues with Chromium on Debian 9 armhf...

Can you play the stream on another OS, like OSX or Windows? Or in Firefox on Debian? Just to check that it's not blocked in your country or something.

Debian 10 Buster x64 on desktop PC. Yes, the streaming works perfectly on another systems like MacOS and Windows too. Also on Linux with Mozilla Firefox.

Hmmm...would you be willing to try this backport of Debian testing/Sid's newer chromium to see if it works with it? We put it straight into MX 19 main because it fixes a zero day exploit, and no user has reported problems with it yet. You can always remove the repo and revert to Debian's packages, too.

Well, no, I expected you to add the repo and its key, since Debian splits chromium into several different packages. All packages can be manually downloaded from here without an OBS account, though:

https://download.opensuse.org/repositor ... _10/amd64/
https://download.opensuse.org/repositor ... an_10/all/ (this is just for the translations)

Anyway, a new version won't help, since you have to manually add the widevine plugin to chromium--here's some instructions: https://github.com/proprietary/chromium-widevine

After I tried the same channels with my Google Chrome on the same computer but I get the same picture now. Please help!

UPDATE: It seems I get the same image on every browser and computer now so maybe the website is under maintenance now. The website worked well until today.

I hope that's the case--I would hate for my Chromium update to have broken Hulu for every device!
