Hi
I am testing Debian 11 and I cannot get surround Analog 5.1 audio output working with a Creative Labs Sound Blaster FX, only Stereo Duplex sound output . If I change profile to 5.1 with pavucontrol , there is no sound and output device turns to Dummy Sound device. If I revert the change to stereo ,sound works perfectly
Sound card is working as expected on Ubuntu 20.04 with kernel 5.4 and Debian 11 comes with 5.10. It is the only difference I see
Is anyone suffering similar issues with this card or onboard audio (that also have 5.1 analog output)?
Regards,
Jorge

Re: Debian 11 sound issues when switching to 5.1
Can you try to run isenkram-autoinstall-firmware, from isenkram-cli package, and see its output?
As given example here

Re: Debian 11 sound issues when switching to 5.1
The kernel may have changed the need for model=string for your device but what is your codec?
as per
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=53708
run
then we can go to the model=string site at
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ ... index.html
click on your codec to reveal what to put in model=string
if that were the only thing you needed to do, use root powers to create /etc/modprobe.d/model.conf
with contents
then full reboot.
as per
viewtopic.php?f=16&t=53708
run
Code: Select all
cat /proc/asound/card*/codec* | grep Codec
https://www.kernel.org/doc/html/latest/ ... index.html
click on your codec to reveal what to put in model=string
if that were the only thing you needed to do, use root powers to create /etc/modprobe.d/model.conf

I use understems which work for me YMMVoptions snd_hda_intel model=string
then full reboot.
