master pdf editor 4 [Solved]

#1 Post by peer »

os: debian 11 kde plasma
I sometimes use the free version of Master Pdf Editor (master-pdf-editor-4.3.89_qt5.amd64.deb). It is the last version without watermark.
But there a few minor problems:
1. there are no maximize and minimize buttons. The program always starts fully maximized.
2. The "-key does not work. I have to use copy&paste to put an " in the text.

These two problems only occur with Master Pdf Editor. Does someone have an idea how to get my min/max-buttons back and the "-key?

I cannot remember if this problem occurred in debian 10.

While I can't help you with KDE, under a WM (I switch between i3 and dwm) it works fine with the directive of

Code: Select all

for_window [class="(?i)master pdf editor"] floating enable
within the i3 config. However and as you mentioned, it does start out full screen and without my setting above within the i3 config, it stays full screen.

Again, I know very little of KDE but perhaps knowing that you "can" change it as I was able too, will help you try to track down how to handle it for KDE.
Here is my example below

The program starts maximized and I am not able to change this. I will look at your solution and try to find a way to achieve this in kde.
I noticed in your picture that you also are missing the minimize and maximize buttons.

Press alt+F3, that should show you window and application options. Under more actions you should be able to unselect fullscreen.

Yes, alt+F3 worked. After deselecting fullscreen The minimize/maximize buttons are back
Now I look at the "-key.
I noticed that the "-key does not work in a field on a form. But it does work in a normal textbox

AFAIK, min/max buttons are not in window managers. At least not the way I have my i3 and dwm setup. Kinda defeats the whole purpose of using a window manager ;)

I just checked the behaviour of the "- key in Master pdf Editor 5. I get exactly the same results as in version 4:
1. The "- key works in a normal textbox
2. The "- key does not work in a form field.
So this looks like normal behaviour of Master Pdf Editor. I will mark this topic as solved

I also use that master-pdf-edition version for editing pdf (last version without watermark) or adobe writer 7.0, ...

if you're interested and by your knowledge you could also use Adobe Writer 7.x (playonlinux-wine 2.2, 1.6 , 1.7, .....) in linux for editing pdf.. that adobe version works like charm in linux by using wine... (Its propietary software, so you would need to pay or get license :o )

Hello
I also faced the same issue. (i) It was resolved by deleting the config file (Master PDF Editor.conf) located at /home/(your machine name)/.config/Code Industry/. (ii) Restarting the application, will bring back all the title bar buttons.
