dwm anyone???

#1 Post by manyroads »

I just thought I'd check to see if there is much of a dwm user community 'in these parts'?

FWIW. I run dwm on Debian Test as well as arch & MX.

dwm is the window manager on several machines on a network I manage. It runs unpatched substituting xterm for st and adding WM_CLASS(STRING) strings from xprop output into "static const Rule rules[]" so that GUI programs like xcalc and vlc don't take up whole xterm terminal spaces. Dunno if there's a "dwm user community" here. Nice to hear if there was.

methinks, we may have the beginnings of a tiny, geeky, subgroup. As for me, I am running on Testing (well... because I can).

EDIT: For those interested, here are some of my wm adventures (you may note I have 'come here' from the MX/ arch world). https://eirenicon.org/?s=dwm

dwm works best for me as well, although I did have some good experiences with qtile.

Interesting link, manyroads. I'll definitely give your dwm articles a read. There is surely something useful that I can learn.
