For lack of a better title, the DE looks like this, some buttons are missing and all the words are as if stuck together. I just uninstalled some programs (I know I shouldn't mess with things I'm not savvy in).
Is there any way to fix it? No matter what theme I choose it remains the same.
Thanks in advance and sorry for any inconvenience.

Re: Accidentally deleted some stuff and XFCE looks like this
I have seen this. I can't think at the moment what is wrong exactly, but it is a theme issue, you got that right. Some XFCE installations have incomplete bits somewhere and if you pull out themes, loosing pixbuf engines and the like there is no configuration left too properly select a default adwaita. You can create your own gtk-3.css files. What release are you on? and...
Code: Select all
ls /usr/share/themes/

Maybe reinstalling what is listed as the removed packages in /var/log/apt/history.log is just too simple a fix?
Hmmm--nala (a new front-end to apt) has a "history" feature, which would make that even simpler.

Like the one in synaptic, it does everything needed now.
Actually I wouldn't bother adding back the obsolete theming packages still possible.
Fixing Adwaita is all it needs.
Re: Accidentally deleted some stuff and XFCE looks like this
Hey. Thank you guys for all the answers. Here is part of the information you requested. History.log has too many entries to list here, it won't let me post it. I fixed it by installing every gtk2-engine package listed, as was pointed out above. Thank you and sorry for the trouble
