[SOLVED] wheezy + kde + hp g6 pavilion: core i5 = no sound ?

Hello
please help me fix this problem, after fresh install of wheezy there is no sound can be heard except beep sounds from my hp pavilion g6, core i5

System: Debian 7 amd64 (Wheezy) + kde 4.8, dual boot with windows 7 (sound is ok on w7).

Other thoughts: debian 6 amd64 + kde :sound works but no wireless (thats why I installed wheezy), tried ubuntu 12 : sounds works but I uninstalled it instantllly (didn't like it)

run alsamixer and unmute channels. probably "master" and "PCM". I personally purge ( and kill any processes ) pulseaudio since it either doesn't work at all or it distorts the living crap out of my speakers.


You might also want to also toggle the automute ON so if you plug headphones in it won't play sound out of the laptop speakers AND the headphones.

You MIGHT have to run "alsactl store" as root to have sound after reboot. If after a reboot you find the channels are muted again, just set everything how you want it and run as ROOT

well, sound works after reboot now.. installed kmix and it works great, thank you. :mrgreen: I really appreciate it
