Creative Pebble V3 not working with Debian 11 stable

#1 Post by manuelmagic »

Hi,
I bought a pair of speakers from Creative, the Creative Pebble V3 and they are not working with my Debian 11 stable.

I tried to check the output of lsusb but it's not encouraging:

Code: Select all

manuel@thinkcentre:~$ lsusb
Bus 005 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 004 Device 004: ID 0bda:c024 Realtek Semiconductor Corp. Bluetooth Radio
Bus 004 Device 002: ID 05e3:0610 Genesys Logic, Inc. Hub
Bus 004 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 003 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0003 Linux Foundation 3.0 root hub
Bus 002 Device 004: ID 17ef:6099 Lenovo Lenovo Traditional USB Keyboard
Bus 002 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
Bus 001 Device 001: ID 1d6b:0002 Linux Foundation 2.0 root hub
N.B.: I disconnected all other USB ports (except the keyboard) before entering the command.

The speakers are powered by the USB port, they switch on and I can use them via bluetooth with my smartphone.

What's worrying me the most is that the output does not change if I connect of disconnect the speakers.

I'm using an USB-C to USB-A adapter included in the speakers box since my PC does not have an USB-C ingress.
This is the converter I'm using:

Of course I do not see the speakers from the volume control widget on XFCE:

The listed items are my HDMI monitor with built-in speakers and the built-in speaker in my PC. Both are quite basic, with low output volume and low quality of sounds.

What can I do? I could probably use the speakers with bluetooth or AUX cable, but I'd prefer to use them with USB since they are already connected to my PC for power.

Thank you in advance for your help.

Aki

Hello,
It looks like a hardware issue: the device is not recognized at all, according to the output you sent.

Hi, thank you for your reply.

The speakers work fine with the same PC on the Windows 10 partition, so I'd say they are not the problem.

I suspect the USB-C to USB-A adapter but I don't have a Linux PC with a native USB-C port to test if they are working correctly directly connected to the USB port (without the adapter).

In the meantime I caved and I'm using them with the AUX cable.
