Debian 11 newly installed with Cinnamon, non-free.
Canon WiFi connected TS 5060 printer.
Cups and Admin/printer settings recognised.
Drivers installed OK with a Canon .Deb file.
Have done this a dozen times with a couple of distros including most recently Mint 20.2.
Usual, install drivers, printer recognized, do test page, A-OK and off we go.
Debian 11. Drivers would not install under CLi, I had to manually point at the printer through IPP on printer set up. No test page, no ability to print at all, but printer is recognised and apparently, according to Debian, printer is ready to go.
Second printer automagically appears. Same print but 'driverless'. Can carry out test print but nothing else.
I must be missing something. Permissions? But can't see that.
Any help gratefully received

Re: Debian 11 - Cannot use Canon Printer
Use of drivers for printers that support driverless printing is deprecated in Debian 11.
Adding a driverless capable printer should be a fairly easy process:
https://wiki.debian.org/CUPSDriverlessP ... _Interface
The canon TS 5060 is listed as supporting Airprint, so it may well be possible to add it without drivers. This is the way to go in Debian now, but there are still printers around that don't support driverless printing.
A quick search of the forum suggests some users coming from distros that use sudo have problems with permissions in Debian because Debian uses su -.

Re: Debian 11 - Cannot use Canon Printer
You're welcome. Isn't it nice when things get a whole lot easier suddenly? We should probably thank all the people who worked on making printer drivers obsolete.
Re: Debian 11 - Cannot use Canon Printer [SOLVED]
The above solution does not work for me. My printer does get registered but just does not print at all. Please help.
https://paste.debian.net/1227156/
What I have done so far.
1). have installed driver available for my Printer from Canon. (this is how it always worked on previous installs)
2). I edited /etc/cups/cups-config file according to debian wiki
Printer does get installed and registered on localhost:631
I am now running out of ideas. Please help. My device is Imageclass D480
