Internal microphone in MacBook 4.1 with installed Debian 10

#1 Post by garciafumeroalberto »

Good afternoon to all.

Excuse my english.

I recently installed Debian 10 on a MacBook 4.1 and I found that it has an internal microphone.

I am trying to make it work. As a normal microphone can't be used, I have tried using a set of white headphones&microphone for Iphone, with no results. Is that right?

I used arecord/aplay for testing, and tried to configure alsamixergui and similar programs, but I'm not sure I am doing right.

Can anyone help me?

Check in alsamixer is the internal microphone muted and the headphone's microphone unmuted
and don't forget press F5 in alsamixer. Perhaps to microphone working Booster and Cupture in alsamixer must be > 0.

Peter.

I recall some Apple users complaining that they had to use "Apple earphones" to use their Apple devices. They were blocked from using other earphones. I would try some ordinary earphone to trouble shoot in the first instance at least.
