Issue with nvidia rtx2060 optimus performance and HDMI

#1 Post by deco33000 »

Hi,

I run an Asus ROG which comes with a UHD Graphics 630 and a GeForce RTX 2060 Mobile.

I run debian stable -> kernel 5.10, with nvidia drivers 460. Apparently Debian 11 manages Optimus out of the box so I din't install Bumblebee-nvidia.
It runs fine but the 2060 doesn't kick in.

Notes: on windows, everything works as expected, fps are capped at 144fps (max screen refresh) and the HDMI works out of the box.
On Linux, on the same websites, fps capped at 50fps and no HDMI.

Also I have occasional glitches on the screen but nothing to worry about for me.

Even launching firefox with

Code: Select all

__NV_PRIME_RENDER_OFFLOAD=1 __GLX_VENDOR_LIBRARY_NAME=nvidia firefox
won't change the situation.
nvidia-smi shows me the 2060 card but nvidia-settings tells me:
ERROR: Unable to load info from any available system
Not sure if this is of any help but attached is the log from nvidia-bug-report.

I also tried the nvidia forum: no answer.

I would like to stay on Debian stable because it is a machine on which I work, so I need stability.

Thanks,

Solved it:

I changed ld with another linker and it went on fire from here.
No visible errors, but a silent one.

Everything is fine, I get my due 144fps :)

Cheers,
