[CLOSED] Advice on LiveUSB to clone Win10 hdd to ssd

#1 Post by JeSuisFlaneur »

I'm at my wits end. I've tried PendriveLinux' products, Rufus, and LinuxLive, and all fail in some way or other. I've tried the (Asus Vivobook) EFI with secure boot able and disable, with fast boot in both as well, I've . . .

I want to clone a win10 hard drive to a solid state drive. I only know how to do this using dd.

Any suggestion welcome, yet remember, I do not resemble nerd-in-chief, Wlm Gates.

I've used Clonezilla to clone a dual boot Debian and Windows system for the same reason, HDD to SSD. It works well and was surprisingly easy. (Clonezilla is based on Debian.) Boot from a Clonzilla disc, copy partitions from HDD to SSD (SSD must be equal or of larger capacity) then boot from new SSD.

Clonezilla website.

Besides being what appears to be a MS windows issue, and they do not allow copies to be made, (easily)
IF you you know how to do this using 'dd', Why not just use it ?

I don't see where it says anything about Ms windows, Win10 , .....maybe ask MS on one of their forums ?
