More than "one or two" - I repeat: The "non-free" firmware is mostly already installed in the hardware itself. Those few firmware images loaded to certain devices on device startup are merely the tip of the iceberg.

The one or two was a bit on the sarcastic side of an understatement.. it was meant to be tongue in cheek. If I was a betting man, I'd wager over 80% of installs are out there using non-free

Make that 100%. Modern hard drives need controllers powerful enough to run malware that operates below Ring 0.

Would certainly have inspired William Shakespeare a controversial play ( drama , comedy ? ) titled : All’s Well That Ends Well ?
ASUS GL753VD / X550LD / K54HR / X751LAB ( x2 )
Bookworm12.5_Cinnamon / Calamares Single Boot installations

Well that, with me, identifies 3 of the 4.

The option made sense, but seemed a long shot.

Should make it a lot easier though, not to mention that post numbers here may halve.
