How many different versions of Debian are there

So I was looking at the debian download page and it looks intimidating to me compared to the download page to linux mint or to Ubuntu so I am wondering how many different versions of Debian are there and which one to install and which one is write for me.

Debian stable and old stable are the only ones. Everything else is development branches.

I recommend stable. Use the unofficial with non-free firmware to make the install as smooth as possible.
