[Software] Emoji are not showing

#1 Post by pirog_s_kartoshkoy »

Emojis are not shoving either in Emoji selector:
https://ibb.co/5xHJN3P
nor in the apps:
https://ibb.co/D9wHdCX
But the fonts-noto-color-emoji package has already installed:
https://ibb.co/VHkr3bd
What should I do ? Some emojis are showing, but not from noto-color and there are very few of them
My system:

Code: Select all

Kernel: 6.0.0-11.2-liquorix-amd64 x86_64
Desktop: KDE Plasma 5.20.5
Distro: Debian GNU/Linux 11 (bullseye)

Unfortunately I can't provide a solution but am experiencing the same problem. Debian 11, now updated to testing. Tried several approaches found on the 'net, mostly related to messing with fonts-config and fc-cache, no changes though. In a virtual machine, I managed to get "plain" (monochrome) emoji displayed after purging fonts-noto-color-emoji, but on the desktop it still looks like in your screens. Using GNOME/GTK, the emoji selector (triggered in example in gedit using CTRL . ) is empty:

Likewise, using tools like Emoji Selector GNOME extension, I don't see any emojis, just blank spaces instead.
Any ideas anyone...?

I can only offer what packages you might wish to review for installing:

fonts-noto-color-emoji
fonts-recommended

See if adding them helps

In case anyone ever stumbles across this one: Posted this to the Spiral Linux forum ....

https://github.com/SpiralLinux/SpiralLi ... ssions/220

... and ultimately got it fixed following the last hint in here:

https://bugs.freedesktop.org/show_bug.cgi?id=104542#c2

Maybe it helps.
