Re: What does your desktop look like?
Recently moved from KDE > Xfce on my Bullseye install. All repository save Albion Online, Simplenote, and Zoom. These are via flatpak. I also built Makemkv against Debian from the ppa source. Backports kernel & wine. Vimix icon theme and Materia dark gtk theme from the repositories. Xolonium font (found on random free fonts site a few years back and kept it).

Re: What does your desktop look like?
Not so Common Desktop Environment (NsCDE) in Debian 11.6.
What is NsCDE?
NsCDE is a retro but powerful UNIX desktop environment which resembles CDE look (and partially feel) but with a more powerful and flexible framework beneath-the-surface, more suited for 21st century unix-like and Linux systems and user requirements than original CDE.
Visually, NsCDE mimics CDE, the well known Common Desktop Environment of many commercial UNIX systems of the nineties. It supports CDE backdrops and palettes with FVWM colorsets and has a theme generator for Xt, Xaw, Motif, GTK2, GTK3, Qt4 and Qt5. Integrating all these bits and pieces, the user gets a retro visual experience across almost all X11 applications.

Re: What does your desktop look like?
This is seriously slick. There's nothing worse than being forced to use a toolkit you normally don't use and finding out that your theme looks off in it. I applaud them for integrating looks more consistently at a time when e.g. GTK doesn't really care how their stuff looks on KDE or on someone's random window manager. We used to be better at this some 15 years ago.

Re: What does your desktop look like?
I have used some qt applications and can confirm that their overall style works well in a common environment.
P.S.
On another ancient machine i use motif wm.

Sawfish wm...I recently discovered this window manager. Absolutely brilliant. Simple and brilliant at the same time. I really like this. I finally found something that works for me.

Re: What does your desktop look like?
Sawfish...It's an amazing window manager. I don't understand why sawfish is being forgotten and Openbox is much more popular..don't know why but sawfish wm is a fully configurable window manager. And it is not necessary to measure the lisp programming language. All configuration can be done using the GUI. For example, I set this window manager to virtually no mouse use using the GUI configuration tools. All control is performed using only the keyboard.

Rio is Plan 9 from Bell Labs' windowing system. It is well known for making its window management transparent to the application. It is running inside Debian 11. You can check this:

I using it for my day to day computing.

@None1975, you must have perfect eye sight if you can see that grey text on a white background.

In 9term text is black, in xterm text is black. In ncmpcpp text is grey. I think i will configure ncmpcpp. But I rarely look at him. Dunst informs me about the song change.

Re: What does your desktop look like?
EMWM is a fork of the Motif Window Manager with fixes and enhancements. The idea behind this is to provide compatibility with current xorg extensions and applications, without changing the way the window manager looks and behaves. This includes support for multi-monitor setups trough Xinerama/Xrandr, UFT-8 support with Xft fonts, and overall better compatibility with software that requires Extended Window Manager Hints.
I compiled it from source and made .deb package (for my machine).

Re: What does your desktop look like?
Debian 11.6 Cinnamon
My Asus GL753VD with Intel Core i7-7700HQ was a nail in my coffin (Multi Boot with Debian 11.6) … since Windows 10 was not upgradable … TOO OLD CPU (sic) .
UEFI: American Megatrends v: GL753VD.308 date: 04/29/2019
Have then consistently thrown out Windows , is now running smoothly in Single Boot under Debian 11.6 on a M.2 2280 NVMe SSD (HDD removed)
Have seized it and is now my personal laptop for daily use ... was my wife's laptop due to the fact that she still used Windows sporadically (although now it appears she can't justify this in any way anymore) .
But yes , as I have mentioned before, what woman wants ... God willing , and have appeased her with the purchase of a new Windows11 basic student laptop (Asus X515KA/Intel® Pentium® Silver N6000) but most of time she’s working on her X751LAD running Debian 11.6 !!! ... home peace has its price .
No further comment , regarding the latter I invoke the right to silence

Re: What does your desktop look like?
Mine hasn't changed a lot since the last time I posted, I personally don't use desktop wallpaper any more. The conky on the right is local, the one on the left is running remotely on my home server. WM is openbox, menus are courtesy of jgmenu.
we see things not as they are, but as we are.

Re: What does your desktop look like?
Decided to update my bullseye stable install yesterday to testing to get some newer software. GNOME 43 looks and feels so much better than 38. I don't normally like using extensions but blur my shell for GNOME is just wonderful.
Update worked fine, just had some hiccups figuring out what to do since I have a legacy dino card that requires nvidia 470. I think I've got it working after installing the legacy kepler drivers and setting glx to use 470.

Re: What does your desktop look like?
Dusk wm. In practice, it is the same dwm, but in this window manager is added patches. And it makes it easier to use this window manager. I also use dwm without any patches.
