Bus 001 Device 008: ID 05e3:0510 Genesys Logic, Inc. Camera
This is a litte bit different ...

I am here under bullseye, but I do have bookworm on a 2nd SSD just for having a look. Installed cheese there and connected my USB microscope. Worked out-of-the box there too. No issues here :wink:

kalle123 wrote: 2023-02-07 09:10 I have this USB microscope here https://imgur.com/fuOCmne.png

Shows up as 'Bus 001 Device 008: ID 05e3:0510 Genesys Logic, Inc. Camera'

When I type

Code: Select all

user@debian:~$ ls /dev/video*
ls: cannot access '/dev/video*': No such file or directory
I get the same, when the devise is NOT connected.

When it is connected, I get this

Code: Select all

$ ls /dev/video*
/dev/video0  /dev/video1

Bullseye, but I also have a bookworm on an extra SSD. Just made a test there. Installed cheese, connected the USB microscope, started cheese and it worked, out-of-the box. Easy like that!

Then use that microscope with Windows. In dual-boot Linux <> Windows or on a Linux host with a Windows guest in a virtual machine like virtualbox. :wink:

Have a nice day - KH

Code: Select all

dpkg -l firmware*
...if you do not see 'firmware-misc-nonfree' or maybe 'firmware-linux-nonfree' listed as installed you may need to enable 'non-free' and install.
