I bought a lightning-HDMI adapter, HDMI cable, and and HDMI-USBc to plug into the iphone and the computer. I have True Visage running on the iphone to provide a video feed.
Hooked them all up, but nothing sees any USB devices except:
Code: Select all
$ lsusb [with iphone+hdmi setup plugged in ]

I tried to see what dmesg might have to say:
Code: Select all
$ sudo dmesg | grep 2172
[ 42.490276] usb 3-2: New USB device found, idVendor=0bda, idProduct=2172, bcdDevice= 1.00

Code: Select all
sudo modprobe uvcvideo
So I'm at a dead end. It feels like this must be some kind of driver problem, but searches don't turn up anything. Anyone have an idea what else I could try?
Many thanks!
Edited to add that my user _is_ in group video.
