I have debian bookworm kde installed on an old asus pc with autologon. At the moment the default is X11. When I want to use wayland I have to logout from X11 and logon again while choosing Wayland.
If I disable autologon I still have to choose Wayland at the logon-screen
Is there (allready) a way to make the Wayland session default in sddm

Re: [Software] make wayland default in kde
In /etc/sddm.conf set DisplayServer= to "wayland".
Hope this helps -

/etc/sddm.conf exists but is completely empty
when I have autologon disable sddm remembers that I prefer wayland. But when I enable autologon again then x11 is the default.

There's also a requirement to specify Wayland in the [Autologin] section of sddm.conf. Here's a really good example of sddm.conf - but only add the sections and options you need.

I did edit the sddm.conf and added only the autologin lines. It did not work.wizard10000 wrote: ↑2023-03-30 15:09 There's also a requirement to specify Wayland in the [Autologin] section of sddm.conf. Here's a really good example of sddm.conf - but only add the sections and options you need.

Then I looked in de kde settings for sddm again (login Screen-Behaviour). I noticed I could select the session Plasma(X11) or Plasma(Wayland). The selection still was Plasma(X11). I changed this to Plasma(Wayland) and now it works: Wayland with autologin!!
