Custom OS name for Snapper snapshots?
I use Snapper on my custom Debian distro, and I want to have a custom name for the snapshots which displays in the GRUB boot menu. How do I go about doing this, and can this also be configured in Cubic so that my custom distro name displays every time I reinstall or install on another comouter? My custom distro is based on SpiralLinux, and instead of using the Debian Bullseye and SpiralLinux repositories, I just use Debian Sid.

Re: Custom OS name for Snapper snapshots?
Custom name in Grub should be pretty easy to do either by editing Grub entries by hand, or via post installation bash script. Keeping things across installs will have to do with remastering an ISO file, but this will be much more involved.
You can learn both by following HOWTOs online.
Take a look at fsmithered's project called Refracta Linux. They're based on Devuan now (I think), but their scripts are lightweight bash. Maybe you can learn stuff there.

Re: Custom OS name for Snapper snapshots?
Hi there, SpiralLinux creator here. I just wanted to clarify that SpiralLinux by design does not have any repositories of its own so as to not create any dependencies on me for maintenance. By default it uses only Debian repositories.beardogg0524 wrote: ↑2023-04-06 17:03 My custom distro is based on SpiralLinux, and instead of using the Debian Bullseye and SpiralLinux repositories, I just use Debian Sid.
