I'm running KDE Plasma on Debian 11.7.0 dual booted with Windows 10, and when I attempt to login from SDDM, it just hangs when I press enter after typing my password. The reboot and shutdown buttons do not work. When I switch to TTY2, login, and attempt to run KDE using startx, it just hangs with absolutely no terminal output.
Is there a way to fix this issue WITHOUT a reinstall? I don't want to lose my entire Debian partition, plus I just don't like reinstalling OSes anyway.

What is your graphics hardware and drivers? Have you checked the logs? The 'startx' attempt should leave a file at ~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.1.log, please share that here.
Run this command and post the returned URL to share the file:
(The curl command is supplied by the curl package.)
Re-installation is unlikely to be needed. This isn't Windows.

Code: Select all
curl -F 'f:1=<-' ix.io < ~/.local/share/xorg/Xorg.1.log
