The release notes for each version include an extensive upgrade guide. Bookworm isn't released yet but it's due in two weeks so there is a draft version available:

It is very thorough so be sure to read it all. Do not attempt to follow random internet guides, most of them are nonsense. Debian provides copious official documentation that should always be preferred over blogs by random strangers.

Re: Debian 11.6.0, HP Computer, and Video Problems
I think someone tried to take over my computer. All of a sudden my text editor opened up on it's own, and I saw the text being pushed down. Then weird stuff happened the terminal by it's self. Then it looked like someone tried to get into my timeshift. It was weird. I had to do a force shut down!
After seeing this I am not sure that even trust the security of the system.
There were windows randomly popping of everywhere. I don't think I have ever seen anything like this before!

I printed your stuff here. But I got to tell you I'm really sorry that I thought I could come to debian and find a solution for this problem! I want to say right now. I GIVE UP!Random_Troll wrote: ↑2023-05-25 05:32 The release notes for each version include an extensive upgrade guide. Re: Debian 11.6.0, HP Computer, and Video Problems
It's over and done. After several weeks of trying to troubleshoot. I'm done. This is beyond my ability. I wiped 6 different drives that I had been using for trying to figure this issue out. And I'm getting rid of the ISO files too. I am grateful that some people tried to help me. But things just kept going downhill. Now things have finally gotten beyond my mental capabilities. I'm the kind of person that needs things step my step. And this has gotten beyond step by step.
While I was running my latest install of Debian 11, I'm pretty sure someone, somehow took control of it. That was a very freaky experience. I can't trust it.

@Random_Troll
@CynicalDebian
I think I finally got apt working.
I downloaded and installed debian-live-bkworm-DI-rc4-amd64-xfce.iso
Download Links:
https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/book ... so-hybrid/
https://cdimage.debian.org/cdimage/book ... 4-xfce.iso
The Raspi-Firmware is still on this ISO file but I was able to remove it by first sudo rm /etc/initramfs/post-update.d/z50-raspi-firmware
I also tried:
sudo apt purge raspi-firmware
dpkg --remove-architecture arm64
apt update
Anyways it seems to be gone

The system upgraded without any errors.
However the video problem is still a problem.
I did some testing on MX Linux 21.3 ahs
Link to ISO:
https://sourceforge.net/projects/mx-lin ... o/download
The reason why I chose to test with MX Linux is because it is a Debian based distro that allows you to easily try out different Kernels.
I made a screen shot:

When I was running it on the Debian Kernels I had problems with the Video. The same problems I am having with Debian 11 and 12. However, when I installed the antiX Kernels, and tried them, the Video problems goes away. This is why I think there is a bug in the Debian Kernels.
