[Software] Debian 12, Budgie, Microphone volume

#1 Post by Daemonicvs »

Hello,

I recently installed Debian 12, a few days ago,
I just noticed, every boot brings the mic volume to the top,
so I mute it, but it is not persistent, goes back up next boot.

Is this normal behaviour for Budgie? I tried Budgie on Solus
a looong time ago, I do not remember it doing this.

Thank you.

Note: I installed Debian using the 'firmware-bookworm-DI-alpha1-amd64-DVD-1.iso'
with Plasma, I did not like Plasma so I switched to Budgie, maybe I missed some package.

No, you didn't. Debian 12 isn't released until 2023-06-10.

That's ancient. No wonder it didn't work.

Wait until tomorrow then try again with the release ISO.

But it did work, I am running it as I type this, it is just a little nuissance with the volume not remembering its previous state.

Which may be indicative of deeper problems. Why take the chance? The ISO you used is known to have had several issues which have been fixed since then.

The alsa-state.service & alsa-restore.service unit files are responsible for storing and restoring the audio configuration. Are those working without error? Check the journal for clues.

Sorry I made a fuzz.
