@Random_Troll and @steve_v pretty much said what I'd have to say about it...except that I'll add another misuse that I'd like to see avoided. I can envision some moderator who I managed to tick off, changing my subject titles to "show me who is boss", and it turns into a whizzin match. I'd prefer to avoid that possibility.

We do not do that here. Kind of offensive.
Typo perfectionish.

So it occured to me as an afterthought that the suggestion might seem offensive, but unfortunately in the anonymous online world it's not without precedent...sigh.

But anyways, keywords are an awesome thing on forums, but not as part of the subject or body content. They should be separate entities in the database, and could be applied by either the OP or mods, without ruffling anyone's feathers...but I fear the forum software probly isn't flexible enough to do that, or is it?

I like the tags ideas much better but there is not a currently maintained version which urges some caution, as using an older or unmaintained version would require some work to the forum database which is not preferable considering our KISS approach for most things.

Back on topic. The Prefixes for this subforum, Testing, and the HowTo forum should remain. We still need input from the subforum moderators for their forums, but for the unmoderated ones we can begin removing some of the Prefixes which will start happening this week.
Typo perfectionish.

The tags in the title are just clutter. I try to ignore them.

Functionally the [SOLVED] is the only semi-useful 'tag' and I'd prefer it as a suffix.

Overall the signal/noise and flow of any thread isn't guaranteed, so the entire thing needs read anyway... If I used my own note style as a guide the entire thread would be subject to revision after conclusion, Instead most forums treat threads as 'the minutes', which is freestyle and ok, so read the whole thread.

Such as a highlighted 'Accepted Answer'?

Yes, I think 'solved' and 'accepted answer' are similar, the feature perhaps tagged on the specific post instead of the OP. Or inline on the specific post, operating like the 'thanks' button, if the op has the option to tag and takes the responsibility to do so.

If I start the thinking from scratch (implementation not considered) then a 'accepted answer' along side a thank button; if this could be the seed found by search, and optionally tag the thread with a solved suffix automagically, and get rid of the prefixes. .

I agree with this proposal: I would suggest "[Solved]" as a prefix, as suggested by @CwF.

I would leave the "[Solved]" tag only.

I would not suggest "accepted answer" because there are "corner cases" when the issue is not caused by debian nor by the user but by other causes (for example, a hardware failure or it is an issue at all). Nevertheless, the reported issue should be marked as "[Solved]" when the cause is diagnosed and it does not depends on Debian.

Here is the present update, we did not touch the tags in the Programming section as they seem to just exist there. I think they may be useful but we have no real feedback or moderation in that sub-forum, leaving it as it stands until someone who regularly posts in that subsection champions or complains about the prefix feature.
