When installing Debian, I did not realize GRUB would render my BIOS menu unusable (freezes after trying to access it). (Maybe, it's not supposed to?) I would like to be able to dual boot. I have Debian and Windows on separate drives, so I think that eliminates a lot of issues? I have looked up the issue, but there are so many different answers that I am not sure what to do. Please let me know how I may fix this.
Thanks in advance.

Re: [O/S] Unable to Access Bios Menu after Install
What is your computer model?
What are you doing while trying to access the BIOS settings? What do you expect should happen and what exactly do you observe to happen instead? I.e. what does the alleged freeze look like?

My computer is a custom build. The mobo is an Asorck Z270 Gaming K6. To get to the BIOS menu (or UEFI menu. I just call it the BIOS, but I don't think they are the same), I just press delete on boot, and it puts me in the menu. Everything looks fine until I try to click on anything. The image becomes still, and I have to shut down the computer through the power button.

It smells like a hardware / firmware issue.Pratir wrote: ↑2023-09-18 01:11My computer is a custom build. The mobo is an Asorck Z270 Gaming K6. To get to the BIOS menu (or UEFI menu. Re: [O/S] Unable to Access Bios Menu after Install
Actually it's not related. If you truly are accessing the bios from the beginning of post using the correct keypress for the board, then the storage drives and what's on them are not relevant yet.
First disconnect the drives, and try to enter the bios. Locking while in the bios is bad. Usually a power issue or rarely the bios battery is dead. While your in there, inspect. Get into the bios and save on exit confirming the board is ok before you proceed.
Re: [O/S] Unable to Access Bios Menu after Install
So, crazy thing. I installed Debian to get away from Windows after the boot files decided to make it inoperable. (The SSD seems fine. I hooked it up to an adapter to get my documents off of it, and it worked.) After installing Debian, I have been going through personalizing and hardware/software compatibility troubleshooting. I still want my other drive to have Windows, so I was trying to make sure the computer recognized the Windows SSD. The UEFI menu freezing began, so I was worried this was going to end up very bad.CwF wrote: ↑2023-09-19 01:08Actually it's not related. I tried your suggestion of unplugging my drives. I unplugged everything, and it still froze... I realized my DVD reader/writer was still plugged in. Sure enough, that was the issue. After installing Debian my DVD drive ended up being first in line for booting, and UEFI reeeeaaaally doesn't like that. So after plugging everything in and going into the menu (then connecting my DVD R/W after), I was able to use it as normal. Now, if only I could get my wifi adapter working properly like it did on Ubuntu.
