[Solved] Dell Latitude 3570 laptop keyboard doesn't wake from sleep

#1 Post by rothdu »

I've been using Debian (bookworm) with KDE plasma for a few months and have recently started having an issue with my laptop keyboard.

Every time the system goes to sleep (whether it be automatically after a period of time, manually by using the Plasma sleep button, or by closing the laptop lid), upon waking again the laptop keyboard is completely unresponsive. It detects no input, including capslock.

The only solution I've found is to restart the system.

I've tried plugging in an external USB keyboard and that worked fine.

Any advice is appreciated.

inxi output:

Is there no option in BIOS setup for wake-up by keyboard?

Thanks for the suggestion.
I've searched through BIOS and unfortunately haven't found anything that helps. The issue appears to be debian-related because I haven't experienced it with windows on the same machine.

Also, the issue here is not that I can't "wake from keyboard" - the issue is that the computer wakes up, but even once the computer is woken, the keyboard is completely unresponsive.

Hello,

You may try installing a newer kernel from bookworm-backports repository:

Kernel update seems to have done the trick. Thanks!
