[Debian Experime-mental] What is the most disgusting technical hack you used?

Using a tool in some way it was never meant to be used, or a bit of blind meddling before hitting enter to your absolute shock that it actually worked. Have you ever used a workaround that could be considered unorthodox?

In the blind meddling, though not disgusting, category: I had an LG Viewty back when it launched. It was possible to install themes on it. Alas, the tool to do this was Windows only and I was using Linux at the time and did not have access at all to a Windows PC. There were no hints or guides to get Wine to work with this tool. In fact, one forum stated that it wasn't possible to make this work under Wine. Well, I didn't like that answer, and even though I had only been using Linux for about a year at the time I managed to work out through pure trial and error how to get it to communicate through the com port by creating a symlink. Obviously, after solving the issue I decided to search using the correct terminology and found out there were many other applications that required this "workaround" at the time. I decided to post my solution to a forum but it was removed because the mods could not confirm it as a solution since they did not use Linux. Nonetheless, I was proud of myself and happy to have modded my phone.

Unorthodox? The computer field is made up of "unorthodox" and "whatever it takes to make it work"
