Being a fan of f-droid apps, I came across Rethink

an opensource DNS + firewall + VPN app for Android

I like the idea of this ambitious app,

but Having very little understanding on this

i'd appreciate your evaluation & insight

Do you recommend using this app ?

Would you recommend other alternatives ?

The OP is not that technical of a post that they need to be re-directed elsewhere. I use Android and from our last 'Which Mobile Vendor device do you use?' Survey it seems we have a fair amount of Android users, it can be surmised that most of them being concerned with authoritative overwatch from the Play store, likely use F-droid. I do.

If it does what it says on the tin, sounds like a nice app despite the many open issues. Looks like there is a good amount of development underway as well https://github.com/celzero/rethink-app/pulse so if it works poorly now, it may still be worth keeping an eye on.
