SOLVED: see post #4
Hello,
I just switched from Ubuntu Studio to Debian 12. I used the weekly Netinstall with gnome-core as a Desktop Environment. During the installation process, I had access to and used to my Wifi but now that the installation is successfully finished, my Wifi adapter is not recognized ("No Wi-Fi Adapter Found"). What can I do? I tried many Linux distros on my computer and never had this problem.
Thank you for helping me.

Re: [Hardware] "No Wi-Fi Adapter Found" after Debian 12 installation
My first question to you is which installation media are you using and do you have the non-free-firmware tags on the repositorieas in you /etc/apt/sources?list file?
As you will notice the above code is my /etc/apt/sources. list file and I've taken the liberty of putting one of the non-free-firmware tack-ons in bold type face.
Code: Select all
#deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux 12.2.0 _Bookworm_ - Official amd64 NETINST with firmware 20231007-10:28]/ bookworm main non-free-firmware
deb http://mirrors.vcea.wsu.edu/debian/ bookworm main [b]non-free-firmware[/b]
deb-src http://mirrors.vcea.wsu.edu/debian/ bookworm main non-free-firmware
deb http://security.debian.org/debian-security bookworm-security main non-free-firmware
deb-src http://security.debian.org/debian-security bookworm-security main non-free-firmware
# bookworm-updates, to get updates before a point release is made;
# see https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debian-reference/ch02.en.html#_updates_and_backports
deb http://mirrors.vcea.wsu.edu/debian/ bookworm-updates main non-free-firmware
deb-src http://mirrors.vcea.wsu.edu/debian/ bookworm-updates main non-free-firmware
# This system was installed using small removable media
# (e.g. netinst, live or single CD). The matching "deb cdrom"
# entries were disabled at the end of the installation process.
# For information about how to configure apt package sources,
# see the sources.list(5) manual.

Hi @happyfeet8827 and thank you for responding. I installed Debian using the most recent weekly ISO of the NETINST on a usb drive using Ventoy. Here is the content of the file you pointed:
Is it what you meant? Another quick question: does the netinstall have all the basic features for a normal use (wifi, install and use a printer)?
Code: Select all
#deb cdrom:[Debian GNU/Linux testing _Trixie_ - Official Snapshot amd64 NETINST with firmware 20231030-03:06]/ trixie main non-free-firmware
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ trixie main non-free-firmware

deb http://security.debian.org/debian-security trixie-security main non-free-firmware
deb-src http://security.debian.org/debian-security trixie-security main non-free-firmware
# trixie-updates, to get updates before a point release is made;
# see https://www.debian.org/doc/manuals/debian-reference/ch02.en.html#_updates_and_backports
deb http://deb.debian.org/debian/ trixie-updates main non-free-firmware

Re: [Hardware] "No Wi-Fi Adapter Found" after Debian 12 installation
Ok, I have found the solution on this Reddit: https://www.reddit.com/r/debian/comment ... ng_debian/
Apparently, installing gnome-core after the installation creates a conflict and one has to delete the content of /etc/network/interfaces, save then reboot.
It worked for me.

Re: [Hardware] [SOLVED] "No Wi-Fi Adapter Found" after Debian 12 installation
It worked like a charm, finally. So simple. After months using wired network as workaround.
Thanks dude.

@jaylcee It would be helpful to post the actual solution here as well as the reddit link.
