Ctrl+n shortcut in Debian 12 XFCE
Ctrl+n shortcut in Debian 12 XFCE
Hi. I try to use Ctrl+n bind in Mudlet mud client but it only works when I press these buttons very quickly and alternately. Other combinations like Ctrl+2, Ctrl+w are ok. I checked XFCE, Mudlet keyboard shortcuts, but there is no this same bind used.

Re: Ctrl+n shortcut in Debian 12 XFCE
Did you try Applications -> Settings -> Keyboard -> Application Shortcuts
?
The proper way to use a keybind isn't actually to press them at the "exact" same time
but one after the other in rapid, smooth, succession
So cntrl+n
should be -> cntrl THEN n
pressing cntrl, and then pressing n
and then holding them both down at the same time briefly

Yeah I tried disabling all ctrl related keyboard shortcuts, also these in XFCE settings.
I know how keybinds work very well, only Ctrl+n behaves diferently how I described in first post. There is just few miliseconds window open for adding "n" to trigger bind. Normaly I can press ctrl, wait 2,5,100 seconds then add second key but not in this situation.

Hhmmm But that is in the context of a specific application?
I think you've identified unique behavior for a specific program!
Try binding cntrl+n
to a different program, and report the results here.

Re: Ctrl+n shortcut in Debian 12 XFCE
I have noticed same thing in another mud client Tintin++, pressing ctrl+n doesn't show specific code which can be used to make #macros. It seems be some kind of global shortcut intercepted before everything else...
